Before you send it,
check the basics.

Can the text in your resume be read? Are the essentials easy to find? Get a quick first look, then work on the parts that need attention.

  • Readable text
  • Contact email
  • Recognizable sections

A useful starting point. No email gate. No detailed report to wade through.

Processed for this check, then discarded. No AI provider receives your resume.

An indicative check, not an employer’s ATS score. Visual layout, job matching and hiring decisions are outside this check.

A first check before your next application.

An applicant tracking system (ATS) may read your resume to fill a candidate profile. If the text or structure is hard to interpret, some details can be missed. This free checker gives you a small, useful overview of those basics.

It checks extracted text, a contact email and recognizable section headings with dates. DOCX files also get a basic check for tables, text boxes and header or footer text. It does not simulate a particular employer’s software, assess a PDF’s visual layout or compare your resume with a job description.

What does the score mean?

The score summarizes our basic checks: readable text, contact email and section structure. It is a simple indicator, not a hiring prediction or a guarantee that every ATS will read your resume correctly. A high score is a starting point for reviewing your application, not a reason to skip it.

Can I check a PDF or Word resume?

Yes. Upload PDF, DOC or DOCX files up to 5 MB. The checker needs readable text. If a PDF is a scan, export a text-based version. Pasting text can check the content basics, but it cannot test your original file’s layout.

Is the ATS resume check really free?

Yes. No account, email address or payment is required. Fair-use limits keep the checker available. Your file is processed in memory for this request, then discarded; it is not saved or sent to an AI provider.

How do I improve my resume after the check?

Open Resume Studio and upload your resume. You can edit the text, organize sections and ask AI for suggestions. Manual editing is free, AI has a weekly allowance, and paid packages include PDF and Word exports. See how the resume editor works.
